Description

At long last, the legendary Honeywell PTM7950 Phase Change Thermal Pads from this video are available on lttstore!

If you're looking for a thermal interface material that offers higher performance than standard paste, but you don't want to go through the trouble of something like liquid metal, this is a fantastic middle ground for any PC or DIY server installation. Many laptop manufacturers also go for a thermal pad rather than paste on CPU & GPU installs, so if your older laptop needs a refresh we've got you covered.

PTM7950 sources tend to be overpriced or unreliable in most cases, so we're super proud to offer an affordable, trusted source for this unique thermal material.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Your thermal pad may undergo one or more phase changes during shipping, resulting in it arriving in a slightly deformed state. This is normal and will not result in performance issues of any kind after installation -- your heatsink will ensure even coverage.

In the event of any leakage from the product packaging, please contact customer support.

Unfortunately we cannot accept returns for thermal pads with open product packaging.

Easier than expected

I forgot to put it in the refrigerator to let it harden a little bit, but overall the hardest part was disassembling my Think pad P53.
The temps are fine and I got a little bit of an overall performance boost over the factory thermal paste.

Works perfectly on gpu

I put this on my 3060ti because thermal paste would pump out over time causing the gpu to start overheating within 2 weeks. Temps with new thermal was 73, after 2 weeks it would be 85 with fans at 100 percent, with the ptm7950 the temps are now max out at 65 with fans only at 50 percent. Love this product I'm going to use it for my CPU too and future GPUs and CPU.

Just use a good paste instead

I just don’t see the point, not better than paste in any way.

Paste in a syringe is easier to apply than this pad. It didn’t improve thermals, they ended up being the same as with the old Noctua paste I had on there before.

When installing a new cooler I made the mistake of shutting down the PC some time before. Usually it’s nice for things to cool down before you start work. Except with this pad it becomes a solid and essentially glues the CPU to the cooler. When I loosened the cooler it pulled the CPU out of the socket (arguably the AM4 sockets fault as much as the past). The I had to use a hairdryer to heat up the CPU and heatsink and use gloves (since things got hot) to be able to twist the CPU off.

Bunch of Cons, no Pros…

5 degrees C drop in temperature after 2 days and about 15 heat cycles! Works great after you break it in!
